I Can Walk The Runway Too!
Thursday, September 28, 2006

image The royal outfitters finally had their opportunity to spend some time with little Lord Byron at the specific request of Argus (he insisted that Byron be quickly brought up to the high standards of Pugsville fashion). Here we can see Byron practicing his action poses in anticipation of being asked to be photographed for the Pugsville.com Fashion section. We’ll see what Argus thinks, but the kid shows promise.

Pugsville Press Relations
Sunday, September 24, 2006

Here at the Pugsville administrative offices, we get a lot of email, phone calls, and letters asking for a number of things from Argus. As you can imagine, a monarch’s time is valuable, and not every request is either up to his standards or sparks his interest. As a general guide, we request all talent search agencies, movie producers, television production companies, and members of the press consult this list of Frequently Asked Questions prior to requesting an appearance from Argus. Please click here for the entire list of Frequently Asked Questions.

What's Out There?
Sunday, September 24, 2006

image Ah… to be a young strapping Lordling pug in Pugsville with an entire world waiting for you at your doorstep. Little Byron already shows signs of following in the footsteps of great explorers from the Pugsville House of Lords as he can barely take his eyes off the great outdoors. Is he fantasizing about grand excursions to the top of famous mountains? Perhaps he’s anticipating royal safaris on the Serengeti, or exploring the vast rain forest. The future looks bright for little Lord Byron.

Royally Tired
Sunday, September 24, 2006

image Being a proper Kingly role model for the newest addition to Pugsville has taken it’s toll on poor Argus. As all great monarchs do, Argus took little Byron under his tutelage and showed him all the special niceties of being a proper Pug of exceptional title. From the appropriate manner in which to politely enter a a pee-pad, to the refined way in which to gnaw on a bone, Argus was there to teach Byron the most exquisite of manners. And now, Argus is demonstrating the proper regal nap method.

Byron The Lookout
Saturday, September 23, 2006

image After a little breakfast and a rousing pug-rub, Byron was back in top form and ready to resume exploration and discovery of Pugsville. Here, we can see Byron practicing his duties for Her Majesty’s Most Ancient And Noble Order as he envisions himself as Chief of The Day for the Royal Guard and is striking a noble pose while on lookout. Of course, 0.65 seconds later, Byron was seen scrambling down the rocks after a leaf blowing in the wind. He needs to work on his focus.

Sleepy Little Byron
Saturday, September 23, 2006

image The introduction to Pugsville was very exhausting for little Lord Byron. All the things to see, the places to explore, the running, the jumping, and eating have taken its toll on this little guy. The morning of his second full day in Pugsville got off to a slow start as even Argus’ royal attendants had trouble rousing poor Byron from his sleepy state. Click for more sleepy pictures.

A Watchful Eye
Friday, September 22, 2006

image Lord Byron’s first full day in Pugsville was filled with all kinds of new adventures and things to discover on the cottage’s south lawn. Here we see Byron already holding his head in a proper fashion befitting the most distinguished of members of the House of Lords. Perhaps he’s watching the butterflies in the royal garden, or simply just admiring his new setting. Of course, Byron could never stray far from Argus’ careful eye on the young Lord’s first venture onto the lawn. We see our beloved King taking Byron under his wing and assuming a role of “big brother” to help Byron become acclimated to life in Pugsville. We’re all admiring the look of concern on our Kind as he tends to our young new addition.

On second thought, it looks as though King Argus is merely concerned for his favorite mini-tennis ball that Byron has discovered.

Lord Byron Has Arrived
Friday, September 22, 2006

image No that’s not a cute little hand puppet, that’s a cute little Lord! Today we welcomed a new addition to the Pugsville House of Lords, Lord Byron, Second Earl of Havelsham, Member of Her Majesty’s Most Ancient And Noble Order, Companion of the Queen’s Service Order, and Aide-de-Camp to His Majesty. Our new little Lord is 9 weeks old and anxious to get out and about in Pugsville to see all there is to see. Here, he’s pretending he’s on one of the Royal mountain climbing expeditions as he scales the sheer cliffs of a mighty towering peak in the cottage’s east garden.

The 2006 Royal Portrait
Sunday, September 17, 2006

image Here we see King Argus posing for his official 2006 portrait. This year, to honor his loyal workers who created the spectacular gardens surrounding the Pugsville Cottage, Argus choose the garden throne as the location for this year’s portrait. This year, we see a tranquil and contemplative Argus, surrounded by his favorite fora and fauna. Click here for a larger version of this year’s official portrait. Posters available in the village gift shop.

Garden Path
Saturday, September 16, 2006

image Here we see Argus enjoying a sunny spot during one of his strolls through the trails of the Pugsville Cottage gardens. On this fine late summer day, the affairs of state are washing away and Argus has a chance to enjoy the cool breeze flowing through his country estate. I’m sure his thoughts are wandering to contemplate the bees, butterflies, and song birds on such a fine day. (Actually, it looks more like he’s making sure he’s properly posed for the photo!)

It's Official
Saturday, September 16, 2006

image The official ribbon-cutting ceremony for Argus’ country cottage commenced today with quiet celebration in the September sunshine. Nestled deep in the southern vale of the Pugsville Forest, the Pugsville Cottage is the perfect place for royalty to enjoy pastoral walks among the finely tended gardens, smell the wide array of flowers, and chase away the occasional squirrel that dares to set foot in the royal garden.

I Don't Do Mondays
Monday, September 04, 2006

image No one likes Mondays, especially rainy, dark, damp, dreary, cold, miserable, pathetic excuse for a day, Mondays mornings in mid-September. Argus wandered down from his stately bed, mustered just enough energy to consider a few bites of breakfast, then headed straight for his favorite cozy day-bed. Because of the terrible dank deluge out the window, King Argus officially declared Pugsville closed for the day and all official functions are canceled until further notice.

"Easy Breezy!"
Sunday, August 27, 2006

imageKing Argus’ staff of attendants constantly search far and wide for the finest of treatments for his royal personage. After all, all pugs have certain standards and those established by our demanding monarch are certainly the highest around. Today, Argus is particularly happy with a new product that made him feel like a finely coifed, pampered, and superbly attended pug of the most superior stature. Happy Tails Spa has provided their wonderful, Sparkle & Shine Shimmering Mist and Argus most certainly approves. And best of all, his royal attendant was heard to say, “Easy breezy” after applying the product.

Pugsville Bath
Sunday, August 13, 2006

image Nothing is finer than being attended to by the royal staff of the Pugsville Spa (the spa is officially still under construction, but the finest staff have been hired, and Argus regularly ensures they are meeting his standards). After a particularly fine wash-massage-rinse-repeat, Argus likes to relax in the warm August sun while his hair poofs to an appropriate superior fluff.

All Creatures Great and Small
Sunday, August 13, 2006

image Even the smallest creatures of Pugsville are important to our King Argus. Here we can see Argus showing concern over a lethargic grasshopper lazing about on the asphalt between the west garden and the Royal Spa construction site. We can only imagine what is being said between these two. Argus’s face indicates great concern over the well being of this little creature. I’m sure the grasshopper felt welcomed to Argus’ realm and eventually discovered some tasty leaves.

Royalty Collar
Friday, August 11, 2006

image Argus’ royal valet often go to great lengths to ensure that our King is properly adorned with the latest of fashions as well as appropriate royal attire. Here, Arugs has been prepared for a special night on the town with his favorite formal collar. It appears as though his all-too-often over-zealous staff have seen fit to ensure everyone is aware of Argus’s status.

I'm Melting!
Thursday, August 03, 2006

image The heat wave hit Pugsville today as temperatures soared into the upper 90’s! Argus, as all pugs, don’t generally take kindly to the heat. But duty calls for all benevolent monarchs and one must make appearances as best as one can. So with plenty of cool water at hand, royal fanners at his side, and his trusty Outward Hound cool-collar, Argus ventures out into his kingdom to show his subjects the heat will not deter a single duty. Having completed his rounds, here we see our king anxious to retire to the comfort of his throne room (and some ice water).

Was That a Smile?
Monday, July 24, 2006

image As the day’s celebrations wound down, Argus found himself wandering through the horde of gifts, cards, and letters that were bestowed upon the Duchess. But the earlier annoyances of the day simply could not be ignored by our beloved monarch. Try as he might, our staunch trooper forced himself to make it through the day. But here, as the royal staff was cleaning and Argus looked through the mass of cards, we see what might be the closest thing to a smile we’ve seen all day. Certainly it must have been something encouraging in that card with all the pugs!

Pugnacious Party-Pooper Pug
Monday, July 24, 2006

image All of Pugsville came out to celebrate a very important event, the birthday of The Duchess who is King Argus’ favorite. Unfortunately, we caught our King in a moment of pugnacious dissatisfaction right in the middle of the day’s festivities. It seems that a combination of frustrations drove our Argus to this unlikely combination of festive attire and displeased expression. There were no pink balloons. The buffet lacked an appropriate desert selection. The seating assignments were not strictly boy-girl-boy-girl. And to top it all off, someone made off with his favorite rope toy. It took an entire team of royal masseuses to give him a pug rub long enough to snap him out of it.

Fairy Godbear of Pugsville
Saturday, July 22, 2006

image An unexpected arrival caused a minor fuss among the staff today, the surprise visit of Pugsville’s very own Fairy Godbear. Part of the reason Pugsville is such a charmed place (other than the presence of King Argus) is through the watchfulness of Mabel, the Fairy Godbear. Here we can see Argus offering one of his choice toys to Mabel. We suppose Argus is hoping Mabel will play… or maybe… Argus would like to be turned into a mastiff, a pug’s giant distant cousin. No… we’re certain the King very much enjoys being a pug.
