Don't Mess With The Pug
Thursday, July 13, 2006

image Not known for his fits of temper, King Argus is the epitome of level-headed diplomacy. However, even Argus has his moments of anger. Today, the staff needed a stern “talking too” after the cucumber slices in his dinner were simply too thick to be tolerated by any civilized pug. After all, one cannot maintain a regal demeanor when forced to gobble down improperly prepared food of an inappropriate proportion. He did his best to remind his staff of his precise requirements for a sophisticate meal.

Dinner is Served on The Veranda
Thursday, July 06, 2006

image After a long day of supervising (and sanctioning through a royal presence) the renovation and expansion of the east garden, King Argus took a well deserved break. From his outdoor portable throne, on the second level veranda, Argus has an appropriately commanding view of his landscape design and the work of the royal gardeners. But as we can see, at the very moment of this photograph, he was momentarily distracted by the royal chefs as they brought out the evening dinner for a relaxing outdoor meal. I suppose we can excuse his royal highness for a moment’s distraction after all his hard work.

The Royal Foo
Monday, July 03, 2006

image The royal sculptors delivered the prototype foo-dogs for the entrance to the newly renovated east garden of the Pugsville Palace. Overall, King Argus was impressed with the artistic flair and interpretive stylizations of these two prototype casts. However, Argus mentioned that he’d like to see an improved pose and has asked the sculptors to rethink their work. To provide a reference for their next round of efforts, Argus has provided an exceptional pose that portrays the appropriate amount of concern, awareness, regal carriage, and most importantly a obvious air of inherent dignity. We hear the artists were overwhelmingly inspired by their consultation with Argus, and are busy at work creating the next prototypes.

The Governator Seeks Kingly Advice
Thursday, June 29, 2006

image From time to time, our stalwart and benevolent King Argus will accept audience with heads of state and other public servants of stature. Just as George W. often seeks out Argus for advice, Governator Arnold was fortunate enough to be accepted for his first visit to Pugsville. Initially seeking an audience with Argus to learn more of our King’s vast knowledge of important concerns such as illegal immigration and global warming, Argus saw fit to change the topic. Here, we can see our King expressing his frustration over many of Arnold’s recent movie outings. Of particular concern to Argus was the atrocious “Total Recall”, “The 6th Day”, and “Jingle All The Way”. It seems that our King has not been satisfied with Arnold silver-screen outings since “Predator”.

Stop and smell the roses
Friday, June 23, 2006

image Every great ruler knows how to balance the requirements of state with the needs of the psyche. While touring the latest additions and upgrades to the Royal East Garden, our monarch took a moment to stop and smell the proverbial roses. It may be impossible to guess what thoughts pass through the royal mind during this brief moment of pause. Perhaps he was considering the needs of Pugsville workers toiling in the garden. Or maybe he was contemplating the menu of this evening’s dinner. We may never know for certain, but we do know the thoughts were of the utmost royal nature.

East Wing Construction
Friday, June 16, 2006

image As we’ve talked about before, King Argus is very involved with every aspect of the goings on in and around his domain, Pugsville. Today, our noble busy-body was supervising the renovation of the east wing guest room of the castle while the construction crew was talking a break. Argus had worked long had hard with the royal interior designer and architect team to implement his plans into detailed drawings for the Pugsville master craftsmen. Here, we can see Argus reviewing the quality of the installation of a new bay window designed specifically to give him a 270 degree view of the east garden.

Where's George Dubbya?
Friday, May 26, 2006

image Part of the regular duties of any good monarch is being the gracious host for visiting chiefs of state. Here, King Argus is in top form as he welcomes George Dubbya on a visit to Pugsville. George stopped by Pugsville on his way back from a recent press conference in the UK. As we can see from this official press pool picture, George is listening closely to Argus’ sage advice on foreign relations, economics, and how to resolve high oil prices. Click for some “unofficial” pictures that didn’t quite make it into official release.

Royal Luggage
Sunday, May 21, 2006

image The customized Royal Luggage arrived today for King Argus to sample and review. Here we see the customized “Royal Tote” especially made for King Argus and his demanding entourage of handlers, groomers, and food specialists. In typical pug fashion, we’re not entirely sure about the King’s approval, however, we did not yet receive any indication of dissatisfaction. So we can assume this wonderful item will be a great conversation piece as the King travels far and wide.

Reflection
Thursday, May 18, 2006

image While Pugsville is a calm oasis in a troubled world, every once in a while our thoughtful King receives word of the troubling goings on in far off corners of the world. Here, we see Argus in a moment of thoughtful contemplation of the events outside Pugsville. We can imagine that he is laying out a comprehensive plan of “Pugs of Mass Devotion” whereby all the world leaders would receive a pug of their own.

Pug Crossing
Monday, May 15, 2006

image Every once in a while, to maintain a proper perspective and connection with his people, King Argus will step out and do common things from time to time. Here, we see our beloved monarch allowing one of the crossing guards to take the day off. And, in return, King Argus has an opportunity to learn a little more of common every day life in Pugsville from the perspective of one of his subjects. What a thoughtful king we have here in Pugsville.

A "Stately" Dog
Friday, May 12, 2006

Well it’s about time that we see more pugs getting the recognician they deserve! Afterall, this is the most royal of royal breeds (at least that’s what Argus tells me), and us modern humans are only now really understanding these noble creatures. And one state is understanding more than most. Delaware is about to make the Pug their state dog (only, someone needs to let them know that pugs aren’t really dogs).

What Is Pugsville?
Monday, May 01, 2006

imagePugsville.com is the domain of King Argus The Pug Spartagus Beasly Beauregard Reasputin of Halvelsham, a very lucky little pug, with the kind of luck reserved only for Royalty. You see, Argus (as he’s know by those who meet with his approval) constantly reminds us of his Royal status and our requirements for tending to his wants and wishes.

Angry Pugs Bunny
Friday, April 14, 2006

imageEaster is always a big time in any kingdom, and Pugsville.com is no exception. But this year, King Argus was not his typical cheeful self as master of spring ceremonies. Whether we began too early this year and interrupted precious spring nap-time, or the regal pink bunny ears were just a touch too tight from too much winter feasting, we will never really know as the King is expressing some dissatisfaction at this point. But the true royal blood knows to continue with the ceremony no matter what, and despite the “angry bunny” look adorning the King’s facade, we completed the photo session and a nice nap was soon to follow. Perhaps next year the royal bunny ear fitters will check the fit before the photo session.

Argus' Favorite Pug Links

Argus liks to scoure the web in search of other royal kin. Here’s some of the site he’s found along the way.

Catching Snowflakes
Saturday, February 04, 2006

image King Argus takes great pride in knowing anything and everything there is to know about Pugsville. He’s a man of details that must gain first-hand knowledge of his land and his charges. Today, Argus went forth into his kingdom to taste the snowflakes in different parts of his land. The flakes to the south tasted of elderberry which was just fine as that is where he would like to establish Pugsville’s first winery. But here, to the east, there is a slight hint of a bitter undertone accompanying a strong flavor of peat with a grassy finish. Argus feels that this might mean an early spring.

Holiday Time
Sunday, December 25, 2005

image Every year, King Argus makes sure Santa Claws stops by the palace for a review of all the pugs that deserve special notice this year. But each year, it tends to be the same story over and over. Argus never hears of any “bad” pugs. How could there be such a thing. So we can see a very impatient Santa as he waits until Argus completes his list of “special pugs”, which tends to be all the pugs Argus knows about. And that’s quite a lot of pugs.

It's Good to Be The King
Saturday, December 03, 2005

image After a long hard day of keeping his domain in order during the chill winter months, Argus likes to supervise the lighting of his fire. Then, he takes up position near the roaring flames and lets the warmth sooth his chilled paws and cold ears. Now, his thoughts drift toward what shall he select for his dinner. Perhaps smoked salmon tonight? With a nice dry white?

Quiet Time
Saturday, October 08, 2005

image Now that our King has matured and graduated from the Royal Military Academy of Pugsville, we often catch him in quiet contemplation of his place on the world stage. Here we see our monarch in such an instance where he is certainly in deep consideration of his role in the years to come. Or, as if often the case with pugs like Argus, he’s simply thinking of this morning’s meal, or maybe the afternoon snack, even possibly the evening snack, or maybe even trying to charm his way into an unscheduled snack.

Best Friends
Thursday, September 23, 2004

imageAs the days progressed soon after our King’s arrival, he became closer and closer to his assigned royal guard, Sir Alexander. Here, you can see yet another moment where the two have settled into a nice afternoon snooze after playing a round of chess. Argus is exhausted, yet Sir Alexander is still keeping at least one eye open.

Urban Safari
Sunday, September 12, 2004

imageDuring our Kings early formative years, he spend a great deal of time soaking in the culture and urban delights of Manhattan. Refined and dignified at an early age, Argus enjoyed regular excursions to the varied museums, fine restaurants, galleries, shows, and especially outdoor cafes. He developed a connoisseur’s palette for fine wines, an expert’s eye for modern art composition, a deep understanding of natural history, and a passion for fresh cannoli and perfect cappuccino. And every excursion into the urban landscape was always accompanied by his royal carrier and especially his faithful guard and defender of all pugs, Sir Alexander.
